I ran the Ghost 16 for 300 miles between August and February. Here's the honest version.
What it gets right
The ride is dialed. It's not flashy, but I never thought about my shoes mid-run, and that's the highest compliment I give a trainer. The upper is the best Brooks has made in years: soft where it should be, structured around the heel, and breathable enough to survive a Memphis August.
Durability is better than the 15. I'm still getting good miles out of mine, and the outsole is wearing evenly. The 15 lasted me maybe 250 before it felt dead.
What nagged me
The tongue. It's thin and it rides up on long runs. More than once I stopped at mile 14 to re-lace because the tongue had slid down and the top lace was cutting in. This is fixable with a runner's loop, but it shouldn't be my problem.
Also, the heel counter is stiffer than last year. For a high-arched foot it's fine. For flatter feet with a wider heel, I've had customers come back and swap them.
Who it's for
Neutral to mild overpronator. Daily trainer miles, marathon training, general road running. Nothing faster than tempo. It's not a race shoe and it's not trying to be.
Would I run another 300 in them?
Yes. They're in my rotation for easy days. I don't race in them, but that's not what they're for.
