The Grivet Take
The Endorphin Speed 3 is Saucony's older performance daily trainer with a nylon plate and PWRRUN PB foam. The combination delivers genuine bounce and propulsion at tempo paces without the cost or rigidity of a carbon-plated race shoe. The 8mm drop and 36mm heel stack place this shoe firmly in the lightweight performance category. This is a tempo and half-marathon partner that crosses over to race-day for runners who want a friendlier alternative to a full race shoe. Saucony has now released the Endorphin Speed 4; closeout pricing on the v3 is the value pick for runners who want a plated supercritical-foam shoe at a more accessible price.

Support
Support TypeSupport Type describes how much built-in guidance the shoe has. Neutral shoes do not add support structure. Stability shoes use geometry, rails, firmer foam, or frame designs to create a more guided feel. Motion control shoes are the maximum-support category and are rare in modern running.

Standard platform
How it fits
Fits true to size for most runners. Toe box runs standard width for a performance shoe; the upper sits closer than the Pro 4. Midfoot is normal width with a secure performance fit. Heel hold is excellent. Available in standard (B) only at Grivet for women's.
How it feels
Cushion is moderate to high stack with PWRRUN PB delivering noticeable bounce. The nylon plate provides forward drive without the rigidity of a carbon plate; the rocker geometry rolls the foot through toe-off. Energy return is genuinely strong. The platform is standard performance width. This shoe runs honest at tempo and half-marathon paces; for shorter speed efforts it works; for full marathon the Pro 4 is the better tool.

Tech, translated
PWRRUN PB is Saucony's PEBA-based supercritical foam, the same technology in the Endorphin Pro race shoe. In the Speed 3 it pairs with a nylon plate for daily-mileage propulsion at a friendlier price than the carbon-plated Pro.
The nylon plate runs the length of the shoe and provides forward drive through toe-off without the cost or rigidity of a carbon plate. Saucony's SPEEDROLL geometry rolls the foot forward to maintain cadence at fast paces.
XT-900 carbon rubber is the outsole compound. There is no waterproofing.
Frequently asked
How does the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 compare to the Endorphin Speed 4?
The Speed 4 is the current version in the same family; both share the PWRRUN PB foam plus nylon plate combination. The v4 refines the upper and the geometry while keeping the family character. Pick the Speed 3 for closeout pricing; pick the Speed 4 for the latest refinement.
Is the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 firm or soft underfoot?
The Speed 3 is balanced, with the supercritical PWRRUN PB delivering bounce on landing. The nylon plate makes the forefoot stiffer than a typical daily trainer. Runners who want a softer underfoot feel without a plate should look at the Saucony Triumph 22 instead.
Is the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 a race shoe or a tempo shoe?
The Speed 3 is a tempo and half-marathon partner that crosses over to race-day for runners who want a friendlier alternative to a full carbon-plate race shoe. The nylon plate provides forward drive without the rigidity of a carbon plate; this makes the Speed 3 more livable across daily tempo efforts. For full marathon races where every gram counts, the Endorphin Pro 4 with its carbon plate is the better tool.
How long does the Endorphin Speed 3 last?
PEBA-based supercritical foams compress more quickly than standard EVA. Most runners get 200 to 350 miles of plated tempo performance from the Speed 3 before the foam fades. Save the shoe for tempo workouts and key long runs; rotate with a daily trainer for general mileage to extend its useful life.
