The Grivet Take
The Endorphin Edge is Saucony's first carbon-plated, super-foam trail racer. PWRRUN PB PEBA foam delivers race-day pop in a trail stack; the Carbitex AFX 3/4-length carbon plate adds turnover snap; PWRTRAC outsole grips on dry trail. Best for trail racing, fast efforts on smooth-to-moderately-technical trails, and runners who want plate-assisted speed off-road. Skip it for technical or rocky trails (the platform isn't stable enough for ankle-rolling terrain), customers wanting max cushion, or wider feet (the upper runs snug). Best on hard-packed dirt, gravel, and grass; not ideal where roots, rocks, and rutted terrain dominate.

Support
Support TypeSupport Type describes how much built-in guidance the shoe has. Neutral shoes do not add support structure. Stability shoes use geometry, rails, firmer foam, or frame designs to create a more guided feel. Motion control shoes are the maximum-support category and are rare in modern running.

How it fits
Fits true to size with a snug, race-tuned upper. Heel and midfoot are locked in for race-day; the toe box is moderately rounded but narrower than typical daily-trainer trail shoes. Standard (B) width only. Customers with wider feet should look at the Speedgoat 6 or Peregrine 16 instead.
How it feels
Bouncy, rolling, plate-assisted. PWRRUN PB delivers the Endorphin pop in a trail stack; the Carbitex AFX 3/4 carbon plate adds turnover snap and torsional stability without the rigidity of a full-length racing plate. PWRTRAC outsole grips well on dry trail and packed surfaces. The platform is narrow for a trail shoe, which limits stability on rutted or rooted terrain; runners often note an ankle-roll risk on uneven ground. Best at race pace on smoother trails.

PWRRUN PB (PEBA) midsole: Saucony's PEBA-based supercritical foam, the same race-day foam used in the Endorphin Pro and Speed road racers. In the Endorphin Edge it's tuned for trail with the volume and structure needed for off-road use.
Carbitex AFX 3/4-length carbon fiber plate: runs from heel through forefoot but stops short of the toes. Adds turnover snap and torsional stability for trail running while staying flexible at the toe-off. Different from the more-flexible nylon plates in trainers.
PWRTRAC outsole: Saucony's premium trail rubber compound, also used on the Peregrine line. Grips dry trail and packed surfaces well; less aggressive than Vibram Megagrip on technical wet rock.
