The Grivet Take
The Ride 14 is older Saucony stock, a balanced daily neutral trainer from 2021. 35/27 stack with an 8mm drop, original PWRRUN EVA foam (predecessor to the supercritical PWRRUN+ in newer Rides). Best for budget-conscious daily training and runners loyal to the older Saucony foam character. Skip it for any speed work or modern foam expectations; this is closeout-era inventory at closeout pricing. Customers wanting the current Ride should look at the v17 or v18.

Support
Support TypeSupport Type describes how much built-in guidance the shoe has. Neutral shoes do not add support structure. Stability shoes use geometry, rails, firmer foam, or frame designs to create a more guided feel. Motion control shoes are the maximum-support category and are rare in modern running.

PlatformPlatform describes the width and shape of the shoe's base underfoot. A wider platform can feel steadier even when the shoe is neutral. This is separate from Support Type.
Standard platform
How it fits
Fits true to size with a traditional Saucony last. Toe box runs standard width, midfoot is normal volume, heel hold is good. Available in Standard (D) and Wide (2E) for men's, which is wider availability than newer Ride versions.
How it feels
Cushion is moderate; PWRRUN EVA reads firm-balanced, predictable, durable. Energy return is minimal — this is foam from before the supercritical era. The 8mm drop and traditional geometry feel familiar to long-time Saucony customers.

Tech, translated
PWRRUN (without the + or PB designation) is Saucony's original EVA-based foam, predecessor to the supercritical TPU and PEBA blends in newer shoes. Durable and consistent across the lifespan but lacking the responsiveness of modern foams.
