The Grivet Take
The Endorphin Speed 3 is the previous-generation Speed and remains one of the most versatile plated shoes Saucony makes. PWRRUN PB foam delivers race-foam pop, the nylon S-curve plate adds turnover snap without the rigidity of a full carbon plate, and SPEEDROLL geometry rolls the foot forward through tempo work. Best for runners who want one shoe for tempo, easy days, and longer races (half marathon and beyond), light runners who want plate assist, and customers crossing over from previous Endorphin Speed generations. Skip it for race-day if marathon performance is the goal (the Endorphin Pro line is faster) or for maximum cushion (the Triumph 22 has more stack). v4 and v5 are the current models with iterative refinements; v3 may offer better value at closeout.

Support
Support TypeSupport Type describes how much built-in guidance the shoe has. Neutral shoes do not add support structure. Stability shoes use geometry, rails, firmer foam, or frame designs to create a more guided feel. Motion control shoes are the maximum-support category and are rare in modern running.

How it fits
Fits true to size with a slightly wider fit than older Endorphins. Heel and midfoot widened compared to v2, with larger sidewalls that improve lateral stability. Toe box runs standard road-shoe shape. Standard (D) width only. Heel hold is solid; midfoot is normal volume.
How it feels
Bouncy, rolling, plate-assisted. PWRRUN PB foam delivers the signature Endorphin pop in a daily-trainer stack. The nylon S-curve plate adds turnover snap during tempo work without making the shoe feel race-stiff at easy paces. SPEEDROLL forefoot rocker rolls the foot forward at moderate-to-fast paces. Flexibility is intentionally low; the rocker and plate do the work. This is a versatile shoe that responds to pacing: smooth and rolling at easy effort, snappy and responsive when the pace picks up.

PWRRUN PB (PEBA) midsole: Saucony's PEBA-based supercritical foam, the same race-day foam used in the Endorphin Pro racing shoe. In the Speed 3 it's tuned for daily and tempo training, retaining the bounce that defines the Endorphin line.
Nylon S-curve plate: flexible enough for daily training, structural enough for tempo and race-day pop. The S-curve geometry rolls through the toe-off rather than locking the foot flat. Less rigid than the full carbon plate in the Endorphin Pro, more responsive than no plate at all.
SPEEDROLL technology: Saucony's signature forefoot rocker, designed to roll the foot forward through the gait cycle. Combined with the plate, makes faster paces feel low-effort.
PWRRUN+ insole: plush PEBA-based topsole adds an extra layer of bounce at the foot's contact point with the midsole.
Frequently asked
Does the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 run true to size?
Yes, the Speed 3 fits true to size for most runners. The fit runs slightly wider than older Endorphin generations, with the heel and midfoot widened and larger sidewalls for improved stability. Toe box is standard road-shoe shape. Standard (D) width only, so customers needing 2E should look at unplated alternatives like the Brooks Ghost 17.
How does the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 compare to the Endorphin Speed 5?
Both are Saucony's plated tempo trainer with PWRRUN PB foam and a nylon plate. The Speed 5 is the current model with refined winged plate, updated upper, and the latest tuning. The Speed 3 is the older generation with the same core character. Choose the Speed 5 for the current refinements; choose the Speed 3 if it's at closeout pricing or you've worn v3 successfully and want to stick with that feel.
Is the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 firm or soft underfoot?
Medium-soft and bouncy. PWRRUN PB delivers the signature Endorphin pop without crossing into pillowy territory. The PWRRUN+ insole adds a soft top layer that customers feel at first foot strike. The nylon plate adds structure underfoot but doesn't make the shoe feel rigid. Compared with the Endorphin Pro 4 (full carbon plate, firmer feel), the Speed 3 is meaningfully softer at easy paces.
Is the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 good for treadmill running?
Yes for tempo and steady-state intervals. The rubber outsole holds up to belt wear, the SPEEDROLL rocker keeps the stride smooth at moderate-to-fast paces, and the PWRRUN PB foam returns energy on each foot strike. The plate and rocker favor faster paces, so the Speed 3 is best on the treadmill for tempo work and steady-state intervals rather than easy recovery jogs (where unplated daily trainers feel more natural).
